INDERA SC STILL UNBEATEN

A Indera SC striker (black) shhots to score against Najip FC. - KHAIRIL HASSAN BY FADHIL YUNUS Ten-man Indera SC remained unbeaten in the DST Super League following a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory over Najip FC at the Balapan Track and Field last night. Their league guide does not lie and never seemed to be relinquishing their unbeaten status after an assured performance worthy of their title credentials against a side that was once early forerunners in the championship race. The first chance fell to the hosts with Mohd Rakin bin Ramli striking wide perhaps fazed by the chaotic nature of the penalty box. Mohd Azri bin Zahari created all sorts of havoc from a set- piece floated long and ended up needing treatment due to a minor collision with the goalkeeper. Following lapse of concentration at the back from the league leaders, Ampuan Mohd Endy Azri bin Ampuan Hj Idris capitalised on the uncharacteristic error and fortuitously finding Abang Nor Sillmy bin Aban

Indera now move five points clear at the top of the 10-team table with 23 points from nine games followed by Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) and Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council (MS PDB), who are both tied on 18 points. INDERA SC FIRST SIDE TO REACH 20 POINT

BY FADHIL YUNUS  League leaders Indera SC became the first side to reach 20- point barrier this season in the DST Super League following a goalless draw against Majra United at the Balapan Track and Field last night. It was a fine effort from Majra to hold out an opposition in excellent form who now instead moved five points clear of MS PDB and MS ABDB. MS ABDB bounced back from last week’s defeat to move in second place of the DST Super League after beating title rivals Najip FC 2-1 at the Berakas Sports Complex. Najip FC’s talismanic player Abang Norsilmy Abang Hj Taha was not available for selection due to his participation for Survey “B” at the Ministry of Development Futsal Championships. The army men boast a superior goal difference than MS PDB as Najip failed to capitalise on their two-match advantage. Mohd Khairuddin Abd Kadir and Mohd Baharin Hamidon upped the tempo for MS ABDB and Noor Raimi Karim @ Syahremy’s reply was not enough. Meanwhile, LLR

BT/ Waqiuddin Rajak BY WAQIUDDIN RAJAK  Majra United held defending champions Indera SC to a 0-0 draw during their DST Super League match last night, handing the titleholders their second draw of the season. The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) beat Najip FC 2-1 in last night’s other game. The army men’s fifth win of the campaign has pushed them from fourth to second – and just five points adrift of Indera. Indera started the game strongly and spent most of the 90 minutes inside their opponent’s half, though Majra’s well-organised defence made it difficult for Indera to find the net at the Balapan Track & Field at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas. Majra had some of the best scoring chances, with most of them led by captain Faizal Mohammad. However, F

Dalam saingan di Padang & Balapan, Kompleks Sukan Negara Hassanal Bolkiah (KSNHB), Indera SC menghasilkan gol pembukaan dalam keadaan kucar kacir di petak penalti MS ABDB apabila bola rembatan Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman berjaya ditepis Soldadu Md Suhandi Haji Awang Mahali di gawang MS ABDB tetapi bola melantun kuat ke kaki Md Asri Haji Aspar menggegarkan gawang MS ABDB pada minit

INDERA SC BEAT ABDB 2-0

BY FADHIL YUNUS INDERA SC did their quest for a title defence no harm after showing foundations of steel in a true test of character by beating the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) 2-0 at the Balapan Track and Field last night. The two teams are brimming with confidence in the league and it was no surprise that the match began on a quick tempo with MS ABDB finishing strongly as the first half drew to a close. Indera SC overcame the attacking threat by converting a neat finish through Mohd Asri bin Hj Aspar after goalkeeper Muhd Suhandi bin Hj Awang Mahali got a hand to Hamizan Aziz bin Sulaiman’s shot. Muhd Zulkhairy bin Razali added a second to provide a tall order for the army men. Mohd Fakrul Zulhamzi bin Yussof was in full stretch to deny MS ABDB a route back into the match and were unbeatable as the match wore on. Indera SC remained in a fine position entering mid-April as their rivals battled for points. Wijaya FC caused a major upset a

Picture: BT/ Faiq Airudin BY FAIQ AIRUDIN INDERA SC tightened their grip on the lead of the DST Super League yesterday, defeating Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) 2-0 at the Berakas Sports Complex. Indera remain the only undefeated side in the 10-team table, currently sitting on 19 points but head coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil is still not satisfied with his team. “Winning tonight was 50-50. We were lucky and didn’t miss our chances in front of goal,” he said, reminding his players to stay humble and focused. Tactically, he instructed his team to play short passes since he expected MS ABDB to play long balls into the box. Going into the final rounds of the games, he said that the team still need to improve as more chances fell to the other team as the game went on. In terms of outstanding performers on the field, the

A previous meeting between the two teams saw last season’s DST FA Cup winners MS ABDB triumph 2-1 against the defending champions and current table toppers at the league’s curtain raiser, the Sumbangsih Cup in January. Both teams are familiar with each other and it is of no surprise that the league’s leading scorers expressed tremendous respect for their respective opponents. BT file BY ABDUL AZIM KASSIM Indera Sports Club coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil said his team’s climb to the DST Super League’s summit on Saturday boiled down to their strong discipline. And with a game against last season’s runners-up Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sport Council (MS ABDB) on Saturday, Indera couldn’t have picked a better time to be in form. “I’m proud of the discipline exuded by this team and I believe it’s that quality that has driven them to perform quite well in our last six matches,” Hj Omar said. “Whatever formation or strategies I’ve gone for, the players have had no problem following them. “The DST Super League is a massi
