INDERA SC BEAT WIJAYA FC 7-3

Bandar Seri Begawan - Indera SC flexed their muscles with a 7-3 thrashing of Wijaya FC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night. Wijaya FC took the lead through Abd Hakim bin Mohd Musliano in the 10th minute, before Mohammad Azwan bin Ali Rahman evened things up before the break. Indera SC's talisman would find the back of the net again in the 49th minute, which triggered an avalanche of goals in the second half Mohammad Khayrun bin Salleh made it 3-1 in Indera SC's favour on the 56th, before a Hamizan Aziz bin Sulaiman hat-trick and Muhd Nur Ekwan bin Othman's effort put Indera SC out of reach. Zulkefly bin Duraman and Ak Anaqi Sufi bin Pg Hj Omar Baqi struck for Wijaya FC in the final five minutes of the game, but it mattered little as Indera SC went home with all three points. However, despite such a large winning margin, Indera SC climbed only to second on four points, behind Jerudong FC only on goal difference after th

Awang Idris Vasi with the 2012 DST FA Cup champions, MS ABDB. BY JAKE TEN  Bandar Seri Begawan - MS ABDB captured a third DST FA Cup title in four seasons after Cpl (U) Mohammad Hardi bin Hj Matassan's netted the winner deep into extra time at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night. Indera SC were making their first FA Cup final appearance ever, and started off brightly, but failed to capitalise on any of their chances in the first half Coming out of the break, MS ABDB seized control of the game, and had two headers cleared off the line by Indera SC defenders. Team manager Major Suhaimi had said prior to the match that the most patient team would win, but he did not foresee that extra time would be required after a goalless 90 minutes. But who could blame him, after watching his side scupper multiple chances having laid siege to the Indera SC goalmouth for most of the second half. Indera SC had chances to capture the

MS ABDB WIN DST FA CUP

Image
MOHAMMAD Hardi Hj Matassan’s 115th minute header handed the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) the DST FA Cup last night after edging Indera Sports Club 1-0 in a game that was destined for penalties until the dramatic winner. It was the third time in four years MS ABDB have won the tournament after successes in the 2009 and 2010 editions of the competition. Both teams had their chances to seal the game at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas, with Indera — who were in their first DST FA Cup final — dominating the first half but on the back foot for the latter stages of the second. Mohammad Arif Hj Zulkifli should have scored the winner for Indera when he was put through on goal in the 99th minute, but his lob was well off the target. They were made to pay when MS ABDB’s Budiman Jumat — who helped shape the game after coming on as a second-half substitute — delivered a cross from the left that Mohammad Hardi latched on to with a powerful hea

DST FA CUP MS ABDB, INDERA FACE OFF TONIGHT

Image
The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) will be bidding their time when they take on Indera Sports Club in tonight's DST FA Cup final. The Army men head into the tie as favourites after beating Indera 3-1 in their last two encounters, and the fact that they also won the same tournament in 2009 and 2010 will only add to their confidence once they step on to the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas. However, like any military man, MS ABDB manager Major Suhaimi Jamali knows that only fools rush into battle. "The most patient team will win," he insisted last week. "We will try to be composed and calm. There is no rush (and) I am sure the game will be decided in 90 minutes. "I think the pressure will be on whoever scores first ... But we have plans for both instances, if we score or concede first - but it depends on how brave you are to change your strategy. "You have to know your strength

INDERA AIM TO UPSET ABDB IN CUP FINAL

Monday night's DST FA Cup final will be won by the team with the most patience and composure, according to Major Awg Suhaimi bin Awg Jamali, MS ABDB's team manager. For MS ABDB, there was very little doubt, if any, that they would be making yet another final appearance. The soldiers boast a very impressive FA Cup record, having won back-to-back titles in 2009 and 2010, before Majra FC denied them a third successive title in 2011, and their fixture with Indera SC on Monday night will mark their 8th final appearance in Brunei's premier cup competition. "The last time we played them was in the FFBD League in 2011, and we won both home and away fixtures 3-1," explained Major Suhaimi. Ever the army man, Major Suhaimi made it clear that knowing one's enemy was the key to success. "You need to know your enemy. You need to know your strengths and weaknesses so you can focus better and devise a game plan," remarked the MS ABDB team mana

BY JAKE TEN Indera SC will be taking on MS ABDB in the final after beating MS PDB 5-3 on penalties in the second semifinal of the DST FA Cup at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium after it ended 2-2 in regulation time. Indera SC were the quickest out of the gates, racing to a two-goal lead in the first five minutes after Hamizan Aziz netted the fastest goal of the tournament, coming in just under a minute, and Mohammad Khayrun latching onto a through ball, before dispatching his effort with ease just three minutes later. PC 5609 Mohd Zulkhairie's solo run, which ended with a vicious strike from outside the box, restored some hope to MS PDB in the 15th minute and the scores would be level come the half-time break. MPC 5701 Mohd Faizizzul was picked out by a team mate with a defence-splitting pass, before side-stepping an Indera SC defender and lashing an unstoppable effort past Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin in the Indera SC goal with 33 minutes played.
