Image

NAJIP FC MARCH INTO FINAL

Image
BY HADI MD HUSAIN Set up title decider against MS ABDB NAJIP FC took down Indera SC 2-1 to book their berth in the DST FA Cup final last night. They will play defending champions the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) next Sunday. MS ABDB secured their final spot after defeating QAF FC 3-1 on Tuesday. This is Najip’s first experience in the final in the tournament, having first joined the competition in 2012. Last night’s result was also a reversal of their previous meeting where Indera cruised to a 5-1 win on Sept 7 in the DST Super League. Najip kicked off the match on the right foot, Mohd Azri Zahari putting the team ahead in the 12th minute after he pounced on Abd Azim Abd Rahman’s cross from the left at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas. Azri almost doubled the lead five minutes later after he created space just outside the penalty box but his strike flew wide. Indera’s Md Khairul Anwar Abd Rahim could have equalised in the 18th minute after he lobbed the ba…

NAJIP FC REACH DST FA CUP FINAL

Image
BY FADHIL YUNUS

Najip FC reached the final of the DST FA Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Indera SC at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.
The intensity of the rivalry was evident as a consequence of their numerous duels in the league but records count for nothing when the two met in the semi-final.
Najip was boosted by the inclusion of Mohd Azri bin Zahari and the national player made an immediate impact in scoring the opener.
Indera levelled proceedings after Mohd Asri bin Hj Aspar scored the equaliser on the 37th minute. However, the joy was short-lived for Indera as Muhd Hanif @ Abd Hadi bin Hamir sparked wild scenes as Najip FC regained the lead.
Najip pressed for a third but the rhythm slowly moved in favour of Indera and Najip had to supress the unrelenting pressure.
There was late a drama near the end of the match when a Najip player was fouled on the box but they missed the penalty.
Unsurprisingly, Najip chose to slow the game down by going to the corner flag. …

INDERA BELASAH WIJAYA

INDERA SC posted a convincing 4-0 victory over Wijaya FC to earn a place in the semi- final of the DST FA Cup at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

The game remained goalless for more than an hour on a wet playing surface with both sides trying to carve out opportunities.

The breakthrough came and the floodgate opened for the DST Super League champions as Indera found the net twice within two minutes.

Moments before breaking Wijaya’s resistance, Indera were presented with two decent chances. The ball fell to Abdul Mu’is bin Sisa before unleashing a powerful low strike to establish the lead for the team.

Indera sent a precise long ball over the top of the Wijaya rear guard allowing Hamizan Aziz bin Sulaiman to double the lead.

Indera was gifted a penalty in which Mohd Asri bin Hj Aspar duly converted. Md Khairul Anwar bin Abd Rahim scored late in additional time to add gloss to the comprehensive win.

Meanwhile, Najip FC will be joining Indera in the semi-fin…

INDERA SC CEMAS

INDERA SC booked their berth in the quarter-final of the DST FA Cup 2014 after defeating Menglait 4-2 in the tournament’s fourth round last night.

A brace from Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman and one apiece from Mohd Nur Ikwan Othman and Sahrin Momin inspired Indera to victory and they will go up against Wijaya FC in the quarters on Sunday.

The first half saw both sides provided the spectators with a lot of action at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

Indera’s Hamizan opened the scoreline in the 12th minute after he skipped past Menglait’s goalkeeper and placed the ball into the empty net.

Menglait’s Ak Md Nurhidayat Pg Hj Ali scored the equaliser three minutes later with a powerful shot past the helpless Indera goalkeeper.

Indera retook the lead after Sahrin powered home a fine free kick from the edge of the penalty area in the 27th minute.

However, Nurhidayat gave an instant reply for his team, scoring …

MANAGER CONFIDENT OF INDERA SC'S CHANCES AGAINST MENGLAIT TONIGHT

by HADI MD HUSAIN
INDERA SC manager Rosdin Hj Abd Aziz believes his team is strong enough to edge Menglait in the fourth round of the DST FA Cup 2014 tonight.

If they triumph against Menglait at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas, two-time DST Super League defending champions Indera will go into the quarter-finals along with Kilanas FC, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB), the Royal Brunei Police Force Sports Council (MS PDB), Wijaya FC and Najip FC.

“There are no major changes in our team’s line-up, so the players are already compatible playing together... I can say the team’s condition is great and we have a good chance to make it into the quarter-finals,” said Rosdin.

Even though they have never played against Menglait, the manager said that they will not underestimate or overlook their opponent’s capabilities.

“We are not really sure about their game play and what their players can do, but from what I …
