INDERA SC booked their berth in the quarter-final of the DST FA Cup 2014 after defeating Menglait 4-2 in the tournament’s fourth round last night.

A brace from Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman and one apiece from Mohd Nur Ikwan Othman and Sahrin Momin inspired Indera to victory and they will go up against Wijaya FC in the quarters on Sunday.

The first half saw both sides provided the spectators with a lot of action at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas last night.

Indera’s Hamizan opened the scoreline in the 12th minute after he skipped past Menglait’s goalkeeper and placed the ball into the empty net.

Menglait’s Ak Md Nurhidayat Pg Hj Ali scored the equaliser three minutes later with a powerful shot past the helpless Indera goalkeeper.

Indera retook the lead after Sahrin powered home a fine free kick from the edge of the penalty area in the 27th minute.

However, Nurhidayat gave an instant reply for his team, scoring his second goal a minute later to make it 2-2.

Indera started the second half brightly and came out with a lot of goalscoring chances compared to their opponents.

Their efforts finally paid off in the 58th minute after Indera’s Hamizan found himself in space to fire Ikwan’s delivery past Menglait’s goalkeeper.

Ikwan netted Indera’s fourth goal in the 69th minute after Md Khairul Anwar Abd Rahim’s cross from the right found him in space to power the ball into the back of the net to conclude the 4-2 score-line.

Indera’s coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil was delighted with the win and and delighted to see his 3-4-3 formation carried out successfully.

“After we concede the second goal, I decided to add another forward in front because Menglait mostly capitalised on the counter attack,” he said.

“I realised their tactic to adopt a lone striker, hence we just focus on the attack and the result was fruitful.”

Menglait’s coach Mohd Rodieno Pehin Dato Hj Abd Latiff mentioned that he was disappointed with some of the bad decisions from the referees and assistant referees.

“Despite my frustration, both sides played well and Indera thoroughly deserved the DST Super League title from their performance,” he said.

Elsewhere, QAF FC beat Brunei Shell Recreation Club (BSRC) 2-1 at the Berakas Sports Complex last night.

Meanwhile, the Liang Lumut Recreational Club (LLRC) will go up against Jerudong FC at the Berakas Sports Complex tonight.

The winner will meet Najip FC in the quarters at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas on Sunday.

The first match of the tournament’s quarter-finals will see Kilanas FC compete against the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) tonight at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex.
