HAJI OMAR: WE DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO CAUSE AN UPSET

BT/Fazizul Haqimie Indera Sports Council (SC) fell short in their DST FA C up campaign after losing 2-3 to the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) in the final at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Saturday night. Indera head coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil felt that his team did the best but luck was not on their side. “Losing the match against MS ABDB in the final was devastating, but MS ABDB were the better team here,” said Hj Omar in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday. “We were trailing by three goals. When we pulled two back in the second half, our hopes were lifted, but we didn’t have enough time to cause an upset,” Hj Omar lamented. The match was interrupted in the fifth minute due to heavy rain before resuming 35 minutes later.

MS ABDB ARE CHAMPIONS

Picture: BT/Nadzirah Malek-Webb The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) successfully secured their third DST FA Cup title after beating Indera Sports Council (SC) 3-2 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night. The match, which was initially interrupted in the fifth minute due to heavy rain, resumed 35 minutes later. The army men broke the deadlock in the sixth minute through Sld Mohd Aliuddin Awg Hj Besar. Indera conceded once again in the 12th minute when a header from SLD Razimie Ramli left little chance for the goalkeeper. Abd Azizi Ali Rahman scored the third one in the 26th minute. Indera managed to pull one back in the 70th minute. Mohd Asri Hj Aspar scored from the penalty. Indera scored their second goal in the injury time, thanks to Muhd Nur Ikmal Damit.

INDERA MS ABDB FACE OFF

Two-time DST Super League champions Indera Sports Council (SC) fell short of defending their title against rivals Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB), but they just might make up for it in tonight’s DST FA Cup final. Indera head coach Hj Omar Hj Jamil feels that the match is the biggest highlight of the season for his team but remains wary of MS ABDB’s strong form. Indera went through to the final after beating IKLS FC 4-1 at the Tutong Sports Complex on Tuesday while MS ABDB secured their place after beating Tabuan Muda (national Under-23 football team) 2-1 on Wednesday. “This final is ‘the match’. MS ABDB - INDERA DST FA CUP FINAL

MS ABDB will meet Indera SC in the DST FA Cup final on Saturday after edging past Tabuan Muda in a hard fought 2-1 victory at the Tutong Sports Complex last night. Razimie Ramli was labelled as the side’s hero with a brace including a 75th minute winner which ended all resistance from a Tabuan Muda side who managed to push them than any of their previous meetings in the DST Super League. Nur Syazwan Halidi has cancelled Razimie’s 62nd minute opener five minutes later but had no reply to his second of the game.

INDERA SC REACH DST FA CUP FINAL

INDERA SC remain in contention of wrapping up the season with a complete sweep of domestic cup trophies adding on to their DST Sumbangsih Cup crown after reaching the final of the DST FA Cup following a 4-1 rout of IKLS FC at the Tutong Sports Complex last night. Nur Ikwan Othman broke the deadlock in the 35th minute but red-hot Atifuddin @ Amir Mamduh bin Momin levelled matters for his 4th goal in a third consecutive cup tie. The attacking prowess of the dethroned league champions became apparent as key man Hamizan Aziz Sulaiman turned the heat with a pair of strikes to settle the contest before Nur Ikhwan completed IKLS misery in additional time. Indera will face either Tabuan Muda or two-time defending champions MS ABDB in the final.

MS ABDB FINISH THEIR CAMPAIGN WITH 2-2 DRAW

The Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) concluded their DST Super League campaign with a 2-2 draw against two-time champions Indera Sports Council (SC) in their season-ending match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last night. The first half saw both MS ABDB and Indera struggling to find their momentum. A flurry of fouls and clumsy challenges from top two teams suggested a rusty start, however, in the 26th minute MS ABDB’s Pvt Azizi Ali Rahman broke the deadlock after scoring from a cross from a corner. The goal saw a more confident side of the army men, but Indera refused to falter and remained vigilant against the team who performed well throughout the season. Indera denied the army men and the score remained 1-0 towards the end of the first half. The second half saw a more determined MS ABDB side when Pvt Razimie Ramli took the opportunity to score in the 46th minute but the linesman ruled the goal as offside. Indera pushed to
