INDERA SC CONTINUE TITLE DEFENCE IN FA CUP WITH ASRI WINNER

Mohammad Asri bin Haji Aspar became a hero for Indera SC after his match-winning goal in extra time helped his team to a 1-0 victory over MS ABDB in the quarter-finals of the DST FA Cup at the Berakas Sports Complex last night. The defending champions progressed to the last four of the competition and dashed hopes of a league and cup double for MS ABDB. The army personnel finally made their move in the Indera’s final third after more than a quarter of the game elapsed when Muhammad Hariz Danial bin Haji Khallidden skipped past his marker and tried to pick out a teammate. However, Indera goalkeeper Mohammad Ahsanuddin bin Haji Mohd Dani saw the danger and dived in to make a save. Shortly after, a MS ABDB player also had a chance but his shot lacked power and conviction to trouble Mohammad Ahsanuddin. MS ABDB attacker Adey Shariduan bin Haji Johari’s free-kick took a deflection off an Indera player for a corner which subsequently ended wide. Tempers frayed follow

The reigning holders will face the newly crowned league champions for a fourth time this season but first in the cup since the 2016 semi-finals when MS ABDB edged Indera 1-0. The army personnel will set their sights on a league and cup double again after they sealed the league title with a few matches to spare. The last two meetings between the pair this season had ended in favour of MS ABDB with a record of a win and a draw each.
