Indera SC have been handed a tough battle to defend their DST FA Cup title against MS ABDB in their much-anticipated quarterfinal tie at the Berakas Sports Complex tonight.

The reigning holders will face the newly crowned league champions for a fourth time this season but first in the cup since the 2016 semi-finals when MS ABDB edged Indera 1-0.

The army personnel will set their sights on a league and cup double again after they sealed the league title with a few matches to spare.

The last two meetings between the pair this season had ended in favour of MS ABDB with a record of a win and a draw each.

MS ABDB’s most recent win against Indera proved to be a crucial moment in the title race after they established a double-digit lead. Victory also effectively ended Indera’s slim hopes of catching up against their fierce rivals.

However, Indera, who already beat MS ABDB in the DST Sumbangsih Cup earlier this season, will also be looking for their own double this season.

MS ABDB, who are the competition’s record winners, missed out on the final for the first time in history after they lost to penalties in the ‘Uniformed Derby’ against MS PDB in the semi-finals last year.

Indera SC won the FA Cup for the first time last season after a 2-0 victory over the police personnel in a first final not involving MS ABDB.

The two foes also met in the final in 2012 and 2015 with the army personnel claiming the trophy on both occasions.
