ISC OUTPOWER ARBISYAM 'B' TO LIFT GOLDEN JUBILEE CUP

ISC earned the rare accomplishment of being named Golden Jubilee Brunei Futsal Cup 2017 winners after securing a comfortable 4-1 win over Arbisyam ‘B’ in the final at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.

ISC, or better known as Indera Sports Club, took a commanding 3-1 lead in the opening 20 minutes and rarely look threatened after the break with a solitary strike not a fairer description of their dominance.

ISC could have breached the net more if it wasn’t for the outstanding displays of the Arbisyam’s shot-stopper who was undoubtedly the busier of the two goalkeepers.

Goals from Md Shafie, Md Khairil Shahme and Hamizan Aziz gave them a nice two-goal cushion with Muhd Ali Qadhrry giving Arbisyam a glimmer of hope.

However, ISC, whose majority of the players specialises in football, were technically superior with their intricate passing leaving the likes of lanky Md Nasruddin and Mohd Hamiduddin focussed with their defensive duties.

Md Shafie may have thought he had the last touch to give his side a 4-1 lead but the fourth goal was credited as an own goal from Muhd Ali Qadhrry.

With the Golden Jubilee Brunei Futsal Cup 2017 a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, team manager Mohd Yussaini Haji Said made it their aspiration to win the title despite their rare involvement in futsal competitions.

“We have aspirations and desire to win the Golden Jubilee Cup because it is being held, probably, once in our whole lives,” said Mohd Yussaini after the prize presentation ceremony.

“We grab the opportunity and at the same time we are not going to change the players.”

The manager also outlined three important aspects which every ISC player should take heed in namely cooperation among players, keeping a good spirit and the discipline of the players.

“It is the three things that we keep from the start right to the end of the competition,” he further added.

Mohd Yussaini shared that it is difficult to compete in futsal competitions due to other commitments but they devoted time to chase for the title adding that it was a “big opportunity”.

When it comes to preparations, the manager also indicated since their training is not linked with futsal, football-related training was the main approach of preparing them for the tournament.
