INDERA SC IN POLE POSITION FOR THE SECOND PLACE
INDERA SC are in pole position of securing second place in
the DST Super League needing just a point from their remaining two fixtures to
fend off interest from nearest rivals Najip I-Team.
Najip will be guaranteed at least a top three finish after receiving news
of Wijaya’s defeat to Indera SC. Najip’s hard fought 2-1 victory over Jerudong
FC at the Track & Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex kept
their slim hopes of second place alive.
After months of tangling in a serious battle with the dethroned winners
while MS ABDB were enjoying a phenomenal season, second place could be sewed if
Tabuan Muda stumble to further disappointment, Indera’s upcoming opponent.
Nevertheless, Najip I-Team have an opportunity to conjure a 13th victory
in 18 games with three points at the expense of Wijaya FC, who themselves are in
danger of relinquishing fourth place if Tabuan return to the fore as a force.
Tabuan Muda have not seen action in the league and the lengthy wait they
will no doubt raise their hunger to target a higher finish in their bow in the
DST Super League.
The under-23 national team have not featured in the league since October
18 when they beat Wijaya FC 3-2, their direct competitor of whom they will be
more than inclined to switch places.
Wijaya will need to collect all three points in an appetising clash
against Najip I-Team this Friday and keep the heat on Tabuan Muda in the race
for fourth.
Meanwhile, on the other end of the table, Kilanas FC registered only their
second win of the season after notching a 2-1 victory over MS PDB at the Tutong
Sports Complex.
Kilanas second victory in five matches means that MS PDB cannot finish as
high as sixth place, thus guaranteeing a top six result for Jerudong FC.
