INDERA COACH CHIDES TABUAN OVER NO-SHOW

INDERA SC head coach Haji Omar bin Haji Jamil expressed his discontentment by the lack of discipline portrayed by Tabuan Muda after appearing with only eight players during their replayed DST Super League tie at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.

The number of players which the under-23 national team has assembled did not fulfil the requirements of staging a match and was well short of the 25 players including substitutes.

The head coach was not satisfied in the spirit of competition even though a walkover will be awarded as a likely outcome.

“Even though we are already confirmed as runners-up in the DST Super League, we have two matches to go which was against Tabuan Muda and MS ABDB,” he said.

The huge majority of the team’s absence was met with even more amazement since the coaches and admin individuals were mostly present for the DST Super League clash.

“Tabuan Muda are formed with players that represent at national level. It clearly shows a lack of discipline for not showing up at a match and this also runs the risk of facing disciplinary action,” Haji Omar said in an interview with the Bulletin.

“These are future players who one day will be called upon to feature in the HBT or the AFF tournaments,” he added.

The under-23 players can be upgraded into the senior squad if the players were chosen to represent the country in the bigger regional and international competitions.

“Tabuan must also respect the DST Super League which is under the supervision of NFABD,” he further added.

Expressing concerns, the national players should be taking the lead on portraying the basic tenets of discipline adding that it would have been understandable had it been from the other clubs.
