THE National Football Association of
Brunei Darussalam’s (NFABD) Disciplinary Committee yesterday fined Kasuka FC and
Indera Sports Club and their players after finding them guilty of violent
conduct and misconduct in their DST Super League match on March 27 which was
abandoned due to heated arguments.
The game at the Berakas Sports Complex was stopped minutes before the break in an incident which started when Kasuka’s Afindi Yati Tuah was challenged by Indera’s Sahrin Momin.
The referee approached the two players but sent off a different Indera player, Hardi Bujang, which saw tension arise between the players and match officials.
Sahrin angrily made his way to the referee but was pulled away and restrained by Kasuka’s Pg Shahruddin Pg Hj Md Tejuddin.
Dissatisfied Indera supporters started voicing their displeasure at the match officials, and the referee decided to call off the match as he was concerned for his and the other match officials’ safety.
NFABD’s Disciplinary Committee, which met yesterday to review the reports of the match coordinator, the referee, acting director of competitions, team managers and video footage of the match - with reference to the NFABD Disciplinary Code and Code of Conduct of NFABD - unanimously agreed to uphold the referee’s decision to cancel the match.
The committee also agreed to fine both Indera SC and Kasuka FC $500 each after being found guilty of misconduct (Article 53).
“Each team will be fined $500 and given seven days to pay,” stated NFABD in a press release yesterday.
“Failure to pay within the given period (will see) each team suspended from playing in two games and points awarded to their opponents,” it added.
Hardi was found guilty of violent conduct and has been given a two-game suspension and a $500 fine while Sahrin was found guilty of misconduct against match officials and has been handed a one-game suspension and a fine of $250, stated the press release.
Both players have been given seven days to pay the fine, failing which Hardi will be given an additional two-game suspension and Sahrin a one-game suspension.
The clubs and players have three days to appeal yesterday’s decisions.
