INDERA SC came back from three goals down
to win 4-3 against Kilanas FC and preserved their status quo as the only
unbeaten side in the division in the DST Super League at the Balapan Track and
Field last night.
It was not long ago that Kilanas was
rooted on the foot of the table but they showed their true colours to open up a
3-0 lead against the league leaders.
Indera’s Mohd Asri bin Hj Aspar floated in
a well-taken set piece and was met by an onrushing team but unfortunately, the
tame effort bounced off safely into the arms of the keeper.
Some quarters of the raucous fans
certainty thought that Kilanas was fortunate not to go a man down when a
defender desperately pulled down Hamizan Aziz bin Sulaiman. The referee felt
that a yellow sufficed for the defender’s punishment.
Pg Mohd Sallehudin strode and beat his
marker for pace to force an error in a dangerous territory.
Many Kilanas players’ were lining up for a
header but Abang Hazim bin Abang Hadzman needed no-one as he planted a perfectly
curled exquisite free-kick from the edge of the box beyond Mohd Norul Zulhilmi’s
grasps, the keeper taking his place of the suspended Mohd Fakrul Zulhamzi bin
Yussof.
Indera showed signs of a comeback when
Mohd Asri reacted to a clever pass but could not beat Abdul Rahman @ Hazmie
Hayat bin Emzah who quickly shut him down just before he was about to pull the
trigger.
Tempers frayed in the 51st minute as a
scuffle nearly broke out following a mistimed challenge but the referee managed
to put the situation under control.
The referee then missed a blatant
hand-ball from Mohd Kamarul Ariffin bin Hj Zaini as Kilanas went off the hook,
prompting the crowd to vent their frustrations against the man in charge. That
could have given Indera a goal to claw back into the game after scoring from a
corner.
It was only a matter of time that Indera
got a lifeline back in the game after the league leaders was awarded a penalty.
Kilanas’s hopes of pulling a major coup against the division’s most in-form side
was dealt a severe blow when Mohd Asri coolly converted a penalty despite being
asked to retake by the referee.
Indera’s attacking intent was a breath of
fresh air in contrast with their average showing before the break while Kilanas
self-destructed. Hamizan Aziz got the end of a sublime piece of skill from his
team-mate but fired his shot wide.
Mohd Zulkhairy bin Razali nearly got the
decisive touch but the despairing hands of the Kilanas’s keeper rescued his
side.
But there were no rescuing once Indera
launched their most accurate cross of the night with Muhd Nur Ikwan bin Othman
finding the target with a neat drive and put Indera in pole position for the
victory.
