TRI-NATIONS CUP: TRAVEL KITS BOOST FOR INDERA SC AND ABDB

TWO futsal teams that
will represent Brunei in the Red Bull Futsal Tri-Nations Cup 2013 at Kuala
Terengganu received a boost from co-sponsors, Kingston Beverage & Creamery
Sdn Bhd with the handing over of travel kits yesterday.
Team managers from both
Indera SC and MS ABDB received the sponsored items from Malcolm Lim, Managing
Director of Kingston Beverage & Creamery Sdn Bhd at their main office in
Beribi.

Two teams each from
three Southeast Asian countries – Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei – are poised
to stamp their authority in their quest for the Royal Selangor Pewter trophy
and walk home with the championship prize money of RM20, 000.
Indera SC will be
competing in Group A together with Mountbatten FC B (Singapore) and MAC FC
(Malaysia), while MS ABDB will be in Group B competing against Mountbatten FC A
(Singapore) and Terengganu-based Gelombang FC.
A press conference was
held prior to the handing over ceremony whereby Malcolm Lim highlighted that
the sport (futsal) can flourish the countries name as well as proving that
talented Bruneians can compete at international standards.
Indera SC, who had
captured the Red Bull NFABD Futsal Champions League 2012 by defeating MS ABDB
in the final, had the privilege to train with the Brunei futsal national team.
“So far we have been
training five times a week with a couple of friendly matches to
brush up the team’s
performance. We still have a few more matches in hand before we depart to Kuala
Terengganu,” said the team manager, Aminuddin Nasuha.
Meanwhile, MS ABDB who
are concentrating their training regime towards building “stamina, strategy and
tactics” also trained five days a week, revealed team manager, Captain (Air) Pg
Muhammad Mufid bin Pg Hj Umar Ariffin.
The Red Bull Futsal
Tri-Nations Cup 2013 is slated on June 14-15 and expected to draw a large crowd
of enthusiastic futsal fans to the Kuala Terengganu Indoor Stadium.
The event is hosted on
a rotational basis among the three countries since it was inaugurated in 2011.
Bandar Seri Begawan’s QAF FC ‘B’ emerged champions two years ago despite
holding the Malaysian LTS FC team to a 3-3 draw in regulation time.
The event is also
sanctioned by the Asian Football Confederation and played by FIFA rules.
Also present during the
event was Valentine Ho Kingston Beverage & Creamery General Manager,
players from both teams as well as representative from Red Bull Brunei.
