IMPRESSIVE WINS BT INDERA SC AND ABDB
BRUNEI
champions Indera SC and Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB),
made mincemeats of their Singapore opponents in the second edition of the Red
Bull Futsal Tri-Nations Cup and in the process boosted their chances of
qualifying for the final at Stadium Negeri in Kuala Terengganu yesterday.
Indera SC,
backed by several players who were called up for national centralised training
last month, thrashed Mountbatten FC ‘B’ 15-3 while MS ABDB followed up by
trouncing Mountbatten FC ‘A’ 14-2.
It will be
an experience Mountbatten FC will never forget as both teams conceded a total
of 50 goals in three matches!.
The margin
of victory certainly boosted the morale and confidence level of Indera SC and
MS ABDB for a place in the final. All that both the Brunei teams need to do now
is score victories over the two Malaysian contenders – MAC FC and Gelombang FC.
Though the
scoreline indicates a stroll in the park for Indera SC, this was not the case
as they were made to work hard for their goals time-and-time again, against a
Singaporean side that seem to have lost its focus midway through the match.
It was
Indera SC’s swashbuckling performance of pinpoint passing, along with some
breathtaking display of dribbling that separated them from their opponents.
Mohammad
Faiz Hasnan, Mohammad Safwan Mohd Safri and Junaidi Jumat fired home
hat-tricks, while Nawawi Mohd Yazid recorded a brace followed by a goal each
from Mohamed Nor Azizam Roslan, Mohamed Ulfi Aminuddin, AK Naquib Muhammad
Pengiran Timbang and Mohamed Amirulizam Punggut.
With MS ABDB
constantly attacking, Mountbatten FC ‘A’ were left struggling to keep up with
the pace and it was only a matter of time before they crumbled.
MS ABDB
scorers were AK Kamarulzaman Pengiran Kamaluddin (4 goals), Mohd Zairul Hazmin
(3), Mohd Khirol Effendi (2) while Masronie Joinidi, Saiful Azmi, Mohammad
Arima Marali, Mohamed Fadzil Ismail and Harun Osman scored one goals each.
Razman Ishak and Muhammad Sharin Majid replied for Mountbatten FC ‘A’.
Team manager
of MS ABDB, Ak Cpt (Air) Muhd Mufid was delighted with the score-line. However
he told reporters that there is still room for improvement.
“During the
first half, many of our attacks were not effective. We only found our rhythm in
the second half in terms of accuracy and power,” he explained.
He added
that the team need to improve more on teamwork and set-pieces in order to
compete against Terengganu-based team, Gelombang FC.
The final
will be telecast live on RTM 1 at 8.30pm tonight (Saturday).
