INDERA Sports Club (SC) midfielder Azwan Ali Rahman, regarded as the club's finest young prospect, is ready to leave the club for the country's only professional football club, DPMM FC.

Indera SC president Pg Anak Hj Mohd Yassin Pg Anak Safiuddin had hoped that his public talks of Azwan as a "talented young player" and "Indera's best player", might help persuade the 21-year-old to stay with the club and ignore the overtures of DPMM FC.

But, in an interview with The Brunei Times last night, Azwan said that he is ready to leave Indera for DPMM FC.

"I am joining DPMM FC. We had sorted things with the DPMM FC management. Now I just need to wait for medical check and fitness test," said the midfielder.

"I know Indera are not willing to let me go. But the power to make the decision is in my hands. I talked to Pg Anak (Pg Anak Hj Mohd Yassin) about it but he is still reluctant to let me go.

"It is very difficult for me to leave Indera, but I am doing this for my future. I would like to try new things and move on to the next level," said Azwan.

"I am very happy to be able to join the best club in the country. The facilities are very good and I know most of the players in the club," he added.

Azwan will join former Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) teammates Adi Said (striker), Md Hendra Azam Md Idris (midfielder), Md Najib Hj Tarif (midfielder) and Md Fakhrul Zulhazmi Yussof (goalkeeper) who officially signed for DPMM FC in April, last year.

"I would like to thank the club (Indera) and I would also like to thank the coach and my team mates for helping me out throughout my stay with them," he said.

Calls to DPMM FC team manager Ali Hj Momin and Indera president Pg Anak Hj Mohd Yassin were not answered as of press time.

Azwan became a hero for the club after scoring Indera's only goal in their dramatic 1-0 victory over the Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB) in the final day of competition on March 10 to help Indera finish as champions above MS ABDB on goal difference.

He scored a staggering 17 goals in eight appearances with Indera in the inaugural edition of the DST Super League and his astonishing goal tally earned him the award for top-scorer during the DST Super League prize presentation ceremony at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas last Thursday.

He was a part of the national squad at the ASEAN Football Federation Suzuki Cup 2012 qualifiers in Myanmar in October.

He also featured in the national Under-21 team that won the 2012 Hassanal Bolkiah Trophy (HBT) in March where he showed that he can definitely hang with the best the region has to offer with his strong play in the middle of the park.
