CAPTAIN Mohammad Azwan Ali Rahman scored a brace as he led Indera Sports Club (SC) to a 4-0 thrashing of Kilanas FC in the DST Super League yesterday.

The victory saw last season's DST FA Cup finalist moved within three points of leaders, and reigning DST FA Cup champions, Royal Brunei Armed Forces Sports Council (MS ABDB).

With MS ABDB not in action this week, and with only two more games to play, Indera desperately needed a win to put pressure on their bitter rivals and they did just that at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

The performance of Indera goalkeeper Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin Pg Salehuddin, who saved a penalty in the game, was particularly notable, making a number of great saves to maintain his team's lead after Kilanas midfielder Mohd Razi Hj Lamit's own goal had put Indera in front.

"It was a very important win for us and I am very happy that we managed to get three points," said Indera's coach Hj Omar Hj Mohd Jamil.

"There are only two games left. We will play MS PDB (Royal Brunei Police Forces Sports Council) first and will face MS ABDB after that.

"If we win against MS PDB, it will be down to our final game against MS ABDB.

"We could have scored more than 10 goals and we missed a lot of chances in the game.

Our striker Hamizan Abdul Aziz is serving one match ban because of two yellow cards, so we put Mohammad Azwan and Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem Abd Hamid up front," added the coach.

Indera got their noses in front courtesy of Mohd Razi, who diverted a shot from an Indera player into his own net in the 39th minute.

Indera midfielder Mohd Nur Ikhwan Othman went wide with a couple of headers and Kilanas' goalkeeper Mohammad Faisal Hashim turned away Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem Abd Hamid's shot in the final minutes of the first-half.

The nearest Kilanas came to scoring was when Mohammad Azmi Hj Zainin strode onto a deflected Izzul Wazien Osmans cross.

He timed his half-volley well, only for Indera goalkeeper Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin to respond with a brilliant save.

Indera started the second-half in their typical fashion, controlling possession and looking potent in attack forcing goalkeeper Mohammad Faisal into a smart save early on from Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem.

But the goalkeeper could do nothing about Mohammad Aqmal Hakeem's shot from near the post in the 48th minute.

Mohammad Azwan made it 3-0 nine minutes later with a great solo effort from the left.

The skipper dribbled past two Kilanas defenders before squeezing the ball past the goalkeeper's legs.

Indera's tempo slowed down in the final 20 minutes and Kilanas were looking the better team with their high intensity on offense.

Pushing forward on numerous occasions, they were awarded a penalty in the 72nd minute after a handball by Sahrin Momin.

However, Kilanas failed to convert as Mohd Razi's penalty was brilliantly saved by Ak Omar Nur Aqammadin.

Mohammad Azwan would add the fourth in the 90th when he curled the ball into the bottom corner after latching onto a through ball from Mohd Nur Ikhwan.

Action continues tonight with Liang Lumut Recreational Club Football Team taking on Majra United FC at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Complex in Berakas.
