INDERA AND ABDB LOCK HORNS IN FINAL

Bandar Seri Begawan - Indera SC will take on MS ABDB in the final of the Red Bull NFABD Futsal Champions League 2012, with both teams vying to be crowned the best futsal team in the nation.

During a media conference yesterday held at the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (NFABD) House, it was revealed that the winners of the second edition of the tournament will walk away with $3,000, whilst the runners-up will receive $2,000.

Indera SC remains the only unbeaten team left in the competition after an Ak Mohd Naqib Pg Timbang hat-trick sealed a 6-3 victory over Arbisham FC in the semifinals last month.

The same cannot be said for MS ABDB, however, after a group stage defeat at the hands of Pega Star FT before the Ramadan break besmirched their almost flawless record, but a series of 'hard fought wins in the knockout stages of the tournament, including a 2-1 win over Kota Junior FC in the semis, has shown that they are a team growing from strength to strength and will definitely be prepared to give it their all come the final on Sunday (Oct 21).

Speaking at the media conference, Capt (U) Pg Muhd Mufid Pg Hj Umar Ariffin was unfazed by his side's label as underdogs as a result of that single loss throughout this year's tournament.

"During the group stage, a lot depended on the tactics used by our opponents. They were very experienced teams and changed their tactics against us," remarked Pg Muhd Mufid.

"In the knockout stages, we changed our system. We looked at our weaknesses and analysed our performances in the tournament, and discussed it with our coach, and tried to change the game of our opponents," he added.

"We want to prove that MS ABDB is one of the best teams and practise harder to prove to everyone that we can do our best."

Meanwhile, Indera SC manager, Rosdin Hj Abd Aziz, insisted his team's undefeated track record was down to consistency throughout all areas of the field.

"I'm surprised we were unbeaten. It's true that tactics are important," said the team manager.

"I think we're an all-round team and the players are a close group of friends," he proposed as a reason for his team's fine form in this year's tournament.

Sunday's action at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex will kick-off at 1.30pm, with the third and fourth place playoff between Arbisham FC and Kota Junior FC, serving as an appetizer for the final between Indera SC and MS ABDB at 3pm, with both teams representing the nation at the Red Bull Tri-Nations Cup this December.
