INDERA STAY UNBEATEN IN DST SUPER LEAGUE

INDERA Sports Club continued their unbeaten streak in the DST Super League with a 6-0 thumping of Jerudong FC last night.

Reduan Hj Petara produced a good showing by notching a hat-trick in the lopsided victory at the Balapan Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas.

It was a closely contested first half but Indera broke the deadlock in the 36th minute through Reduan.

The defending champions only doubled their lead in the 63rd minute with Md Khairul Anwar Abd Rahim slotting home past Jerudong goalkeeper Abdul Samad Hj Gapor in a one-on-one situation.

Indera made it 3-0 five minutes later with Abd Khair Hj Basri firing from inside the box.

Mohd Asri Hj Aspar created the fourth goal for Indera after he dispossessed a Jerudong player and skipped past three defenders before putting the ball to Mohd Nazirul Nazreen Abdullah down the right.

The latter then delivered a cross to an unmarked Mohd Zulkhairy Razali to head home in the 73rd minute.

Muhd Zulkhairy should have notched another three minutes later after rounding an onrushing Abdul Samad but fired over the bar.

Reduan scored his second of the match after getting the ball over the line in the 81st minute despite Abdul Samad stopping his effort.

Indera completed the rout in the 88th minute with Reduan completing his hat-trick after tapping in the rebound on Muhd Nur Ikwan Othman’s initial attempt.

Indera manager Rosdin Hj Abdul Aziz praised his side for the performance and was delighted to pick up all three points from the encounter.

“Getting all three points tonight (Sunday night) was most important as we were missing some key players through suspension and injuries,” said Rosdin to The Brunei Times after the triumph.

“We changed from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 in the second half to win the midfield and get the ball to our strikers, who had the speed advantage.

“I would also like to congratulate our back line as well as the goalkeeper in not conceding. It is also the first game we didn’t pick up any cards,” continued Rosdin.

Indera are well on their way to defending their title and Rosdin is also hoping to go all the way without a single defeat.

“There are only five games left and we will take it one at a time. We hope to make a clean sweep of it by finishing the season with an unbeaten record,” said Rosdin.

“We know that it won’t be easy as every other team is looking to beat us,” he added.

The standings could not be obtained as organisers are yet to sort it out after Majra United pulled out from the competition reducing it to a nine-team league.

BAYONG SENDS QAF FC TO SUMMIT

INDERA SC IN POLE POSITION FOR THE SECOND PLACE

INDERA SC are in pole position of securing second place in the DST Super League needing just a point from their remaining two fixtures to fend off interest from nearest rivals Najip I-Team.    Najip will be guaranteed at least a top three finish after receiving news of Wijaya’s defeat to Indera SC.
