DPMM WIN FRIENDLY MATCH AGAINST INDERA BEFORE MSL

BY JASON THOMAS

MAINTAINING match fitness is high on DPMM FC's agenda.

In order to ensure their players are at peak condition before their Malaysian Super League date with Melaka on May 2, the club yesterday organised a friendly against Indera FC which they won 5-1.

Affendy Hj Akup gave Indera a taste of things to come when he got on the score-sheet barely five minutes into the game after connecting with a pass from Nigerian Daniel Nnadi.

He is on trial with DPMM who currently sit third in the 13-teams MSL table.

Playing for DPMM for the first time, Nnadi found the back of the net himself a few minutes later during a one-on-one with Indera's goalkeeper.

Fadlin Galawat made it 3-0 after latching on to a low cross from the left five minutes later.

Indera got a goal to their name off a free-kick, but Nnadi scored a nearly identical goal to his first at the end of the first half to give DPMM a 4-1 lead heading into the locker room.

Muhd Maududi, 17-year-old, did a great job of marshalling the midfield in the second half, and alongside captain Rosmin Hj Mohd Kamis, prevented Indera from seeing too much of the ball.

Rosmin scored his team's fifth goal just before the full time whistle, latching on a a cross-field pass from Alejandro Tobar which caught Indera's defence sleeping, to calmly slot the ball past a helpless Indera goalie.

Though Nnadi had several chances to claim a hat-trick, his lack of finishing meant he had to settle for only two goals.

"I like playing here, and the atmosphere is so welcoming and I feel as if we are brothers," said Nnadi.

"I'm happy with my performance today, but I had many chances to score and if I just have some time I am sure I can improve."
